The name
A word for what we have always done.
Sempati Hali combines sempati — compassion and warmth — with hali, the Turkish word for carpet. For centuries, a rug was the surface where life happened: meals, conversation, prayer, rest.
We chose this name because it describes our work honestly. We do not manufacture rugs. We find them, authenticate them, and place them in homes where they will be lived with — not merely displayed.
How it began
2005
We did not set out to build a brand. We set out to find rugs worth keeping.
In 2005, we started collecting vintage rugs, handmade pieces, kilims, and patchwork across Türkiye — Oushak fields faded to honey and ivory, tribal kilims from Central Anatolia, patchwork compositions stitched from rescued fragments, pieces rolled and forgotten in back rooms that deserved a second life. Each find confirmed what we already felt: this work was not a hobby. It was a calling.
For years we bought, restored gently, and sold quietly — always guided by the same instinct. Does this rug have soul? Does it carry its region in the wool? Would we live with it ourselves? That filter never changed.

2005
The first pieces
We began travelling across Türkiye — through Anatolian villages, Istanbul markets, and private homes — collecting vintage rugs, handmade pieces, kilims, and patchwork one piece at a time. Not as a business plan, but as a passion.
2010s
Building trust in the field
Years on the road deepened our eye for weave, dye, and provenance. Relationships with local dealers and families became the foundation of how we source — face to face, rug by rug.
2020s
From passion to purpose
What started as a personal pursuit grew into something larger. Collectors and designers began seeking the same authenticity we had always chased — pieces with history, not reproduction.
Today
Sempati Hali is born
We gave the work a name and a story. Sempati Hali — compassion woven into every carpet — is our promise to honour the textile tradition we have lived inside since 2005.

Rooted in Türkiye
Our collection is built in the country where these rugs were woven. We source directly from Turkish villages, markets, and private collections — not from anonymous warehouses.
